“This launch was carried out within the framework of the strategic partnership between the Egyptian and Chinese governments, as well as the productive and constructive cooperation between the two friendly countries,” the Egyptian Space Agency wrote, as quoted by Arabnews, on Tuesday (12/05/2023.) ).

The MisrSat 2 satellite is an Earth observation satellite built by the Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) in collaboration with the Chinese National Space Agency (CNSA). The satellite was launched on 17 January 2023 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in China on a Grand March-2C carrier rocket.

The MisrSat 2 satellite weighs 700 kilograms and orbits at an altitude of 700 kilometres above the Earth’s surface. The satellite is equipped with a high-resolution optical camera that can produce images with a spatial resolution of up to 1 metre.

The main mission of the MisrSat 2 satellite is to support sustainable development in Egypt.

This satellite will be used for a variety of applications, including:
