Satria-I Satellite To Meet Internet Network Needs In Indonesia’s 3T


The Satria-I multifunction satellite (Satellite of the Republic of Indonesia Raya) is a satellite that will function as a special internet connection carrier for disadvantaged, frontier, outermost (3T) areas, and border areas. Areas that will be covered by this satellite include: Cikarang, Manado, Batam, Banjarmasin, Pontianak, Ambon, Tarakan, Manokwari, Jayapura, Kupang, and Timika.

The Satria-I satellite project was initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo), which was carried out by the satellite company Thales Alenia Space from France. Satria-I is targeted to be operational in 2023. This satellite will reach 150,000 public service points. operated by an earth station. From 150,000 public service points, including distance learning and computer-based exams for Islamic boarding schools and schools, 93,900 points.

The Satria-I satellite provides internet with a capacity of 150 Gigabit per second (Gbps), with k-band frequency high-throughput satellite (HTS) technology, which is planned to be launched by a Space X Falcon9 rocket in the United States.
