WorldTekhno.com – Ababil drones are a family of Iranian single-engine, multi-role tactical drones manufactured by the Iranian Aircraft Manufacturing Industry Company (HESA). The Ababil programme began during the Iran-Iraq war.
To date, five Ababil variants have been developed, namely:
1.Ababil-1: First variant developed in the 1980s. It has a range of 100 km and can carry a payload of 10 kg.
2.Ababil-2: Improved variant of Ababil-1. It has a range of 120 km and can carry a payload of 20 kg.
3.Ababil-3: A more advanced variant of Ababil-2. It has a range of 200 km and can carry a payload of 40 kg.
4.Ababil-4: a newer variant of the Ababil-3. It has a range of 300 km and can carry a payload of 60 kg.
5.Ababil-5: The most advanced variant of Ababil. It has a range of 500 km and can carry a payload of 100 kg.
Ababil drones have been used by the Iranian Armed Forces in a variety of missions, including reconnaissance, surveillance and attack. The drone has also been exported to several countries, including Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.
